Manuscript on paper, in a single secretary hand, of about 55 religious and philosophical reflections on such subjects as anger, pain and sickness, love, desire, tranquility of mind, and "against delight in drinkinge," drawing on quotations from Seneca, Thomas a Kempis, and Virgil. The volume also contains several sermons, including A Sermon Preached att my Deare Fathers Funerall and A Sermon Discourse or Exhortation to Fastinge; Especially for the Observation of Lente. The volume also includes a letter to "Sonne Tho. & Rob" signed "F. C.," in which he exhorts his children "to bee in the seighte & Presence of God."
